Today's bias: wait for Monday's range to break, leaning up. Gold is at 4,022 (Swissquote XAU/USD mid 4,021.75, 09:06 PKT), just above the 4009 turning point and below Monday's high of about 4030.

Gold eased in early Asian trade: spot was at $4,013.70 as a firmer dollar weighed before the Fed (NewsBytes), after rising 0.5% on Monday (Moneycontrol via TradingView). It has since moved back above 4,020.

The dollar index is near a one-week high at 102.04, and traders expect the Fed to hold on Wednesday (Moneycontrol via TradingView). A December hike is still possible if inflation stays high (NewsBytes), which keeps a lid on a metal that pays no interest.

Today's plan comes from EFMS TRADE's daily gold plan for 27 Oct (GOLD RECOVERY OR FURTHER DROP? | XAUUSD TUESDAY FORECAST), which replaces the weekly levels for today. EFMS expects Tuesday to follow whichever side of Monday's range breaks first. A break that closes back inside the range is only a liquidity sweep. He leans towards an upside retracement after last week's fall, but price may also range before the Fed.

Today's signals

Buy · Above turning point4009–401440004030 / 40382.30RH1 close above 4009, buy the retest
Sell · Below turning point4004–400940203980 / 39107.15RH1 close below 4009, sell the retest

None of these is live until its trigger. Zones and targets are EFMS TRADE's; stops and R:R are ours, measured from the middle of the entry zone to the second target. Every signal stays on this week's signal results with what happened next.

Monday's results: the best sell at 4023–4034 hit TP1 (3995) and then came back to entry, so it closed at break-even. The sell below the turning point was stopped out (−1R). The breakout buy at 3995–4002 triggered on the 18:30 PKT M30 close and reached both targets (+2.17R).

Price against the weekly plan

LevelWhat it means today
4103–4140Weekly main sell zone and EFMS's daily order block; only in play after a daily close above 4030.
4040–4050H1 sell zone (buy-side liquidity): sell a rejection.
4030Monday's high. An H4 close above opens the gap; a break of 4038 targets 4080 and 4120.
4,022Price now (Swissquote, 09:06 PKT).
4009Daily turning point. An H1 close above favours 4030–4038; below, 3980.
3978Monday's low. A sweep and close back above is a buy; a close below targets 3910 and 3890.
3941–3952Strong demand and the weekly main buy zone.

The weekly turning point at 4046 sits inside today's H1 sell zone, so a rejection there fits the weekly sell-rallies bias. See this week's outlook for every zone.
