What is gold doing today, Fri 30 Oct 2026?
Gold (XAUUSD) traded at 3,991 at 09:12 PKT on Fri 30 Oct 2026. The bias is sell rallies with the turning point at 4004. High-impact news today: US Employment Cost Index Q3 at 17:30 PKT.
Today's bias: SELL rallies below 4004. Gold is at 3,991 (Swissquote XAU/USD mid 3,990.75, 09:12 PKT), back under 4,000 and below today's 4004 turning point.
Thursday's US data kept a December Fed hike in play. Q3 GDP grew 3.4% annualised against 3.2% expected, and jobless claims fell to 194,000 (Mitrade). Gold fell about 1% on the day (IndexBox) and closed Thursday at 4,021.13; September PCE rose 0.5% on the month and CME FedWatch shows about an 80% chance of a December hike (KuCoin). The ECB held rates, as expected (IndexBox).
The dollar did not gain much: the dollar index slipped 0.24% to 101.87 on Thursday. Oil is still high, with Brent at $111.54 and US crude near $102.75 in early Asia, as Houthi attacks on Saudi targets offset hopes of US–Iran talks (KuCoin). This morning the Bank of Japan held at 1.25% in an 8–1 vote, with one member voting for a hike to 1.50% (ActionForex). Gold slid through Asia from about 4,020 to the 3,990s (COMEX futures on a spot basis).
Today's plan comes from EFMS TRADE's daily gold plan for 30 Oct (GOLD FRIDAY PREDICTION | 30 OCTOBER 2026), which replaces the weekly levels for today. Thursday reversed the Fed-day rally and broke the previous day's low, so the H1 trend is bearish. EFMS expects a push up first into 4028–4035 or the higher sell zones, then a sweep of the previous day's low. Turning point 4004: above it targets 4043, below it 3977. Expected range: roughly 3970/3990 to 4060.
| Setup | Entry | Stop | Targets | R:R | Trigger |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sell · Below 3977 | 3972–3977 | 3992 | 3952 / 3920 | 3.11R | H1 close below 3977, sell the retest |
| Sell · Rejection sell | 4053–4061 | 4072 | 4035 / 4004 | 3.53R | Rejection in 4053–4061 with confirmation |
| Buy · PDL sweep buy | 3988–4003 | 3975 | 4028 / 4053 | 2.80R | Spike below the previous day's low, close back above; buy the retest |
None of these is live until its trigger. Zones, stops, targets and triggers are from the EFMS daily plan; R:R is ours, measured from the middle of the entry zone to the second target. The higher sells (4086–4102 after a sweep of the previous day's high, and the favourite 4126–4140) and the 3941–3952 demand are too far away for today unless the data moves price a long way. Every signal stays on this week's signal results.
Thursday's results: the H4 order block sell at 4058–4080 never got a fill, so it expired. The H1 break buy dipped into 4002–4008 at 21:10 PKT, reached TP1 4020 at 22:05, then came back to entry at 22:30 before TP2, so it closed at break-even.
| Level | What it means today |
|---|---|
| 4046 | Weekly turning point. Price is well below it, so the weekly sell-the-rallies plan still holds. |
| 4053–4061 | EFMS rejection sell zone, just above the weekly turning point. |
| 4028–4035 | Equilibrium resistance. An H1 close above it turns EFMS buyers on. |
| 4004 | Today's turning point: above = 4043, below = 3977. |
| 3,991 | Price now (Swissquote, 09:12 PKT), inside the 3988–4003 demand. |
| 3972–3977 | Break zone: an H1 close below 3977 opens 3952 and 3920. |
| 3941–3952 | Weekly and EFMS favourite demand. |
Closest to triggering is the sell below 3977, about $14 under price: it needs an H1 close below 3977 and a retest from below. The PDL sweep buy needs a spike under the previous day's low and a close back above first. The 4053–4061 sell needs the rally EFMS expects, about $65 higher.
